Colour pencils.

This is Mao, the vocal of the amazing japanese group SID. And... it is a guy. Honestly. It is.
Gotta love those eyes. o___o

So. Yes. I tried to do something with colour pencils. I thought they hated me. Perhaps they still do. o__o' But... I think it turned out way beyond my expectations.

But I am also beginning to hate the perfectionist in me. Oh gosh, it didn't want to leave me alone. x.x' I just... had to... make it... perfect. @.@

Perfect being photorealism, and that's pretty foolish of me.
What was my perfectionist mind thinking when it thought that me, a girl that almost never has used colour pencils the last year (or before that), should be able to do photorealism with them on the first try?
I am not even sure if it is possible to achieve photorealism with colour pencils.

See how foolish I am sometimes? X_x'


And yeah. I hate my scanner.
It totally ruined the colours. Really. It looks way better IRL. The colours look much more like on the original picture.

(want to know how many times I freaked myself out by thinking that my own drawing was the original photo until I realised that the original photo lay printed out on the other side of the table? X_______X')

WOW. that is beautiful.
I know what you mean by perfectionism. It can drive you crazy, but i think it's a good thing because it pushes you to improve.
And yeah, photorealism with coloured pencils is difficult, but i think you did a good job.,

Oh my god. I can't believe you never do colour realism. Actually, I can't believe it's not a photo. :o

I use Derwents too, only mine are Watercolour and Artists. I want to come back and favourite this. Later, after I have more deviations than favourites. :paranoid:
